Attention training venue changed for next month!!

Out and about for all

We are giving ourselves a Handball pitch break. To better enjoy the summer weather and to work on our general fitness, strength and endurance we will move out. We will meet in the Downs at Ladies Mile (see picture/link below) to have some fun and a relaxed workout. Doing some running, training catching and throwing and use the provided trim trail there. Everybody is cordially welcome to join.

Looking forward seeing you there and feel free to bring none handball players and players to be along, too. No special skills are required; just bring yourself and good spirits.

BHC sociale event planned for Friday 20th June 2008

The Club would like to invite everyone to meet in The Old Duke at 7:00pm. Letīs have a couple of beers and go from there.

Bristol Handball Club has been offered a place in the British women’s league. We would like to raise a team and we know we had definitely enough very skilled and highly potential ladies playing and training with us over the last year. Now it is your chance, please let us now if you are ready to take it to the next level and commit playing in a league. So get moving and call Fabien or Thomas as soon as possible or just turn up at next Thursday’s training.

After a longer break, the homepage is now back online with regular news!!!

Many things happened since the last up-date. Most important of all the first mans team finished the 2nd (developer) league last week with an astonishing second place. This is more than was expected for our first season ever and created enthusiasm, and high expectations for next year.

So now it is time to get together for our first team meeting preparing the next season and discuss the clubs future development.

We have scheduled a get together on Sunday.   The meeting will be held on 1st of June at 11:30 after the mess in the:

euro 2008 live online
The Men's European Championship will be available live online via the European Handball Federation's recently revamped official event
website. Matches can be viewed from 1.99 Euros or 19.99 Euros for the whole tournament.

Christmas holiday training break
There will be a three-week break from training over the Christmas holidays. Here are the revised training dates and times:

Thursday 20 December - NO TRAINING
Thursday 27 December - NO TRAINING
Thursday 3 January - NO TRAINING
Thursday 10 January - Training at the City Academy 9.00 - 10.30 pm

Bristol's next tournament will be Saturday 12 January in Liverpool.

New team soon in Bath
Bristol will soon have a new team right on its doorstep. Handball has been accepted as a sport at
Bath University and the students will start regular training in Bath's superb Sports Training Village in the new year. Anybody interested in finding out more about the team can visit their Facebook group.

Bristol Cup tournament planned
Following Bristol's league success this season, the club is now embarking on another new venture, the organisation of its own annual tournament. The event is planned for Saturday 23 February and teams from across the South of England have been invited. The tournament will take place at The
Princess Royal Sports Complex, Wellington School in Somerset. More information to follow.

To improve communication with and within Bristol Handball Club, the club committee have now been allocated club email addresses (bristol-handball.co.uk). You can find contact details for the committee on the
contact us page. Committee members can use the link on the right handside of the homepage to log into their email accounts.

Play-off date change
The date for the English Development League play-offs have changed. The original date of 16 February will now be the weekend of the British Student Championships..
The new date will be advised when available.

Bristol through to league play-offs
The latest league results and table have been added to the bristol-handball.co.uk
results page. With one tournament left to play, Bristol Handball Club are already through to the English Development League play-offs. Only Deva or Cannock can hope to catch Bristol at the top of the league, the men's team now need just a draw to finish top of the Western Division.

Christmas Eve invitation
Bristol's first team goalkeeper, Paster Chris Ache, has kindly invited all club members and their family to attend a midnight candlelit service on Christmas Eve at his church in Knowle Park, Bristol.

Bristol remain unbeaten
With two more wins in the English Development League against Isle of Man (23-14) and Cannock (21-14) on Saturday 8 December, Bristol men's first team remains unbeaten. Bristol will meet Deva and Liverpool on 12th January in the final round to decide who will win the Western Division.

Tournament schedule revised
The match schedule for the weekend's English Development League tournament has been revised. Bristol will now meet Cannock at 1.00 pm at the Greenbank Sports Academy, Liverpool on Saturday, 8 December.

League leaders prepare for next round in Liverpool
Bristol men's squad is busy preparing for the next round of the English League on Saturday 8th December. With a number of new signings, the team will be looking to maintain its place at the top of the league table with further wins against Cannock and Liverpool.

Have your say on the future of English handball
England Handball has announced the start of an exercise to gather views both from within the handball community and from the wider education and sport world, in order to help shape the sport in England beyond 2012.

The first phase of the consultation is an online survey which is open to anyone with an interest in handball. This will be followed in January with consultation workshops where interested parties can discuss the results of the survey and formulate plans to take the sport forward.

The latest English Development League
table has been updated and posted on the bristol-handball.co.uk website. The latest table and league results see Bristol in top spot, ahead of Midlands-team, Cannock, by two points.

Watch Women's World Championships live
The International Handball Federation is offering the chance to watch every match of the Women's World Championships live
online. The Championship is taking place in France from 2 to 16 December. An all-access pass for the whole tournament will be available at €19.99. A match pass is also available at a cost of €2.99 per match. This pass allows access to the match live and for up to 24 hours after the final whistle.

Bristol move to top of league
Bristol men's team took yet again maximum points in their second fixtures of the English League this weekend (Saturday 3rd November). Playing in Chester, Bristol beat Cannock (21-14) and IOM (25-5), another great achievement that takes the club to the top of the league.

Goal difference separates Bristol from top spot
Bristol are only three goals from the top of the English League. Following two wins in the team's first English League event in Liverpool on 5th October, Bristol are equal on points with league leaders, Cannock. Bristol will meet the Midland team on 3rd November in Chester. League results and table can be found in the

Club coaching team appointed
Bristol Handball Club has appointed its coaching team for the season 2007/2008. Weekly training will be led by a coaching team including experienced German pair, Thomas Engelbrecht (pictured) and Chris Ache, as well as Romanian coach, Lidia Jones.

First blood to Bristol in English League
Bristol men's team took maximum points in their first fixtures of the English League this weekend (Saturday 6th October). Playing at the Greenbank Sports Academy in Liverpool, Bristol beat Deva HC 21-19 and Liverpool HC 21-12, a great achievement in the club's first ever league matches. Bristol team: Chris Ache, Thomas Engelbrecht, Andi Reimer, Roger Dickinson, JJ Rowland, Kevin Hill, Mounim Lakraa & Glynn Hill.

Player registration
Players wanting to play for Bristol in the English League need to be registered with the England Handball Association. A registration form can be downloaded below as can an international transfer form for players, who have been registered with an overseas federation in the past two years.

Training venue change
The start of the new academic year has meant that UWE can no longer accommodate our booking. Weekly training has now moved to The City Academy, Russell Town Avenue, Bristol, BS5 9JH on Thursday evenings from 9.00 - 10.30 pm.

Bristol joins English League
Bristol Handball Club will be competing in the English League this season 2007/2008. The club's first competitive season will see the men's team making the trip to Liverpool each month to play against teams from Liverpool, Cannock, Isle of Man and Chester. The club is now recruiting players to join the squad for the coming season.

English newest handball club entered two teams in the Weymouth 2007 English Beach Handball Championships, which took place in the Dorset resort on 22nd and 23rd July. Results and pictures from the event can be found on the England Beach Handball

First match against Oxford University
Bristol's men's squad played its first indoor match at the weekend (16th June) against Oxford University in Oxford. Final score 33-26 to Oxford. An excellent performance from the Bristol team in their first competitive match (and without an experienced goalkeeper!) A re-match is planned in the next month or so.
